How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication on Grammarly

Securing your online data with a second layer of security (2fa) is essential. Here’s how to enable it for your Grammarly account.

With all our data being online, it’s more important than ever to make sure you are securing it. Two-Factor Authentication (2fa), also called Two-Step Verification (2SV) or Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), provides an extra layer of security to your online account. And 2fa isn’t just for your most sensitive data.

Through online attacks and social engineering, a bad actor can sneak their way through a lot of your stuff especially if you make the grave mistake of using the same password on multiple accounts. So, it’s important to employ 2fa on every site and service that supports it.

Grammarly, the popular spelling and grammar checking service is one that allows you to add an extra layer of security to your account. Whether you’re using the free version or have a premium account, here’s how to enable it.

Enable Two-Step Verification (2SV) on Grammarly

You can set up 2SV for you Grammarly account from your PC using the following steps.

1. Launch a browser, sign into the Grammarly 2SV security page, and click Turn On.
2. Sign into your account a second time and type in the 2SV code sent to your email account and click Next.
3. Choose the second factor method you want to use to access Grammarly. You can use an authentication app like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or 1Password or have a text message with the code sent to your phone.
4. Continue and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the setup of the second factor. This will vary based on which method you choose.
5. Once you complete the process, you will get a message letting you know that Two-Step Verification has been successfully enabled for your Grammarly account. Click Done.
6. Make sure to print out or securely store a copy of your single-use backup codes in case you need to log in and don’t have your phone.

Whether it’s your financial data, streaming music, or gaming service, you must employ the available security to protect your accounts. If a site or service doesn’t offer it, bug them to add it.

Always use different strong passwords and employ 2fa everywhere you can. Yes, sometimes, taking the extra step of verifying your account may seem like a pain. And we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention a secure and easier method is to set up passkeys where available. however, like 2fa before it, passkeys are an emerging technology and not yet available everywhere.
