Disney Plus Launches in Austria, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Spain, Switzerland and the UK

Today is a big day for Disney fans as it’s launched its new streaming service, Disney+, to EMEA, including Austria, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK. France will also get the service on April 7th, just a few weeks away.

Although many were skeptical that Disney could create a streaming service that could actually compete with entrenched incumbents Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu (which Disney owns BTW), Disney+ quieted the skeptics when it announced over 10 million sign-ups after just two days of launch.  Since then, with content for every age, it’s been taking the world by storm (literally), moving across the globe at an amazing rate. Add to that the global pandemic where we’re all stuck home with little to do other than watch TV; you could also say that 2020 will be the year of Disney!

So for those of you stuck at home and looking for something on TV, here are the details for your specific country, including pricing and special launch titles.

Disney+ Launch Pricing for European Countries including the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, France, and Switzerland

Similar to the US, subscriptions to Disney Plus are available either at a monthly rate or annual. As you can see below, we highly recommend the Annual sub as it gives you a full two months free vs. the monthly subscription. Additionally, for customers in the US, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, and the UK, Disney+ gift subscriptions are also available.

What we like most about Disney+

What we like most about Disney+ is all the child-friendly content. Unlike Netflix, I feel pretty comfortable installing the app on my various devices at home without worrying if they might stumble on a TVMA title. That said, Disney+ Parental Controls, however, at this point, is really not needed.

Lastly, I also love how the service is available on all platforms, including Web Browsers, Android phones, tablets, Apple phones, tablets, Amazon Fire tablets, and most Smart TVs, including Samsung, LG, and Vizio. It’s also available on Apple TV, Roku, Sony PlayStation, Xbox, and yes… it’s pretty much everywhere at this point.
