Logitech MX Master 3 Wireless Mouse Review
The Logitech MX Master 3 is an all-around quality mouse with precision control and features to help improve your everyday workflow. Here’s our review.
If you’re a power user and looking for a precision wireless mouse, Logitech’s MX series can’t be beaten. We have covered different Logitech keyboards and mice over the years, and the company’s MX series line of products really stand out. Earlier this year Logitech announced the MX Master 3 with MX Keys as part of its new lineup. And here we will a look at what you can expect from the new MX Master 3 mouse.
Logitech MX Master 3 Wireless Mouse
Compared to the MX Master 2S, which was an incremental upgrade over its predecessor, the design of the MX 3 has been slightly altered. The dimensions are Height x Width x Depth: 4.91 in (124.9 mm) x 3.31 in (84.3 mm) x2.0 in (51 mm ). And it weighs in at just 5.0 oz (141 g). Other than the placement of the back and forth button and a larger thumb wheel, if you’re familiar with the MX Master line, there aren’t many surprises here.
But under-the-hood, it’s all-new technology. Logitech has deployed what it calls MagSpeed Electromagnetic scrolling to the scroll wheel. Just hit “Mode Shift” button to switch from measured line-by-line scrolling (Ratchet mode) to simply blaze through pages at 1,000 lines a second (Free Scroll). If you work large spreadsheets and documents all day, you’ll really appreciate the scrolling ability.
It also includes an updated signature DarkfieldTM 4,000 DPI High Precision sensor that can track on all surfaces – even glass. This provides excellent control if you need accuracy in creative apps like Photoshop, for example. Like the 2S, you can connect the mouse to your device via Bluetooth or the included Logitech USB Unifying receiver.
Another benefit of the MX Master 3 is it uses USB-C quick charging versus a micro-USB connection in previous models. You can use the included USB-C cable and charge it for one minute and get three hours of use from the mouse. And on a full charge, it lasts for up to 70 days.
Logitech Options Software
All the buttons on the mouse to be customized for app-specific profiles thanks to the Logitech Options software. Any button can be remapped for a specific task. In fact, it wills can your computer for apps where you can enable preset mappings. It also gives you control over the pointer precision and scrolling functionality.
You can move between multiple machines running Windows or macOS using Logitech Flow technology. It’s part of the Logitech Options software, too. With it, you can use the MX Master 3 to move between systems seamlessly. And it allows you to copy and paste content between three different computers.
Using the Logitech MX Master 3
The mouse does provide precision control no matter what you’re using it for. It gives you fast and accurate control over the pointer. And the button mapping allows me to blaze through all sorts of apps. For me, the scrolling is where this mouse shines. It allows me to fly through long documents, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations. Even while doing simple stuff like scrolling through long web articles the speed and control are great. Plus, it’s a lot quieter than the scroll wheel on the 2S. In fact, it’s virtually silent — even with Ratchett mode.
Now, compared to the MX Master 2S there are some cosmetic differences and a minor quip I have is about the thumbwheel. It is larger and higher up on the mouse with the back and forth buttons under it (on the 2S they are behind the thumbwheel. The movement here seems less comfortable. But if you haven’t used the MX Master mouse before it’s not something you’re going to notice. And the speed of the scroll wheel and overall improved accuracy makes up for it. It’s certainly doesn’t make for a reason I would go back to the 2S.

I’ve been using Logitech products for years and its MX series wireless mice have always been well built and felt professional. MX Master 3 is no different. If you already have the MX Master 2S the $100 upgrade might not be worth it. But if you have the first-gen MX Master, it’s well worth it. And If you’re looking for a quality wireless mouse to improve your everyday workflow, it can’t be beaten.
The new MX Master 3 retails for $99.99 and you can get it in person or online starting in October at big box stores like Best Buy or Walmart. Or, pick one up online at Amazon or at Logitech.com.
